Bookend TovBookend Alef
Turn those old boring bookends into a nice showoff piece on the bookshelf. My husband works hard to make his library a beautiful place in the house. This inspired me to create a needlepoint concept to go with his love of books. These canvases can be attached to the end of traditional bookends. I’ll put up a picture when I get mind done.

First Commissioned Canvas

Above is the very first commissioned canvas I created. No matter how many designs I create, each one holds a special memory for me and this one is no exception. This request was for a tallis bag to coordinate with a tallis the client had purchased in Israel. The tallis itself is beautiful, with the 12 tribes of Israel stones represenhted in two-toned colored rectangles. The client wanted a design for the tallis bag that reflected, but didn’t duplicate, the design on the tallis. So I created a design of 12 colored sections to repeat the 12 tribes. Each color section will be stitched in two color tones and each with a different background stitch. The Hebrew on the bag is the client’s favorite Jewish phrase (and also mine) – Known Before Whom You Stand. This first project definitely spurred my excitement and creativity to do more.

Welcome to the Sue James Creations blog.

I was given my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah 3 years in advance.  This gave me plenty of time to find the perfect needlepoint canvas for her Kippah and Tallis Bag.  After months of looking in local shops and on-line, we could not find the right fit.  The result, we designed them for her.  Since then, my husband and I created a set for him, and the one for my son’s Bar Mitzvah, in June 09, just went into the shop for finishing.

I have received so many complements on my work that Sue James Creations was created.  I specialize in creating custom Judaic needlepoint hand-painted canvas designs.  Please email me at suejamescreations@hotmail.com to receive a copy of the brochure and discuss how I can help you create the perfect needlepoint canvas for your Jewish lifetime event.
